In Saskatchewan…

On March 1 2021 it was made law that those seeking divorce must first use a collaborative process such as mediation. This validates the fact that mediation has a high success rates, gets parties to sustainable solutions faster, and is significantly less expensive. The outcome that the parties arrive at remains confidential, and the format is far less intimidating than a formal court room setting.

As a registered social worker your mediation fees may be an eligible expense for group insurance through you employer and/or medical expense. Your plan administrator or your accountant can help determine your eligibility.
