In Saskatchewan…

pilot projects were launched in selected communities in 2019 which made it law that those seeking divorce must first utilize a collaborative process, such as mediation. It is anticipated that this new law will be expanded to larger centres as early as February 2021. This validates the fact that mediation has a high success rates, gets parties to sustainable solutions faster, and is significantly less expensive. The outcome that the parties arrive at remains confidential, and the format is far less intimidating than a formal court room setting.
